Ericka Rascon-Ramirez

Associate Professor
AT
I'm an applied economist and Associate Professor at the University of Middlesex. I am also Profesor Investigador Titular at CIDE (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas). My research focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating social interventions that address critical development challenges, particularly examining how parents influence child development and adolescent behaviour in areas such as schooling, learning, and sexual health outcomes. My recent work centers on increasing school enrollment and learning outcomes while reducing early parenthood in rural communities in Nigeria. Moreover, I collaborate with political scientists to design interventions promoting democratic behaviour and work with government agencies and international organisations on mobile learning and mobile banking initiatives. My field experience spans primarily Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, where I have conducted randomised controlled trials and online experiments. My research has been published in the American Journal of Political Science, Economics Letters, the International Journal of Forecasting, and Judgment and Decision Making, among other outlets. I earned my PhD in Economics from the University of Essex, my MSc in Economics from University College London, and my BSc in Economics from CIDE.
